Hoist Elevator at Aura at College Park

A lot of people may wonder about the construction elevator that is located on the outside of condos while under construction. In construction terms, this is called a hoist elevator. It is used during the entire construction process when building a condo. A visit to the Aura Condos construction site showed that the hoist elevator is built on the north side of the building and it looks like it's only up to about the 20th storey of the condo so far, even though the outer shell is closing in on the 28th floor.

There are a few things about the hoist elevator that many people don't know. For example, the condo units that are located on the north side of the building where the hoist elevator is attached are called "hoist units." What makes these units different then all the other condos in the building are that they will be ready for occupancy last- even if they are located on lower floors. Some people actually look for hoist units when purchasing condos as they prefer the longest occupancy available. A good tip when looking to purchase a pre construction condo is to ask whether the unit you are purchasing is indeed a hoist unit or not.  That will give you an idea as to whether your occupancy will be longer then anticipated.  Below is a picture taken at the Aura construction site and you can clearly see the hoist elevator on the north side. It is yellow!
